How To Use

Sathu maavu can be served in a variety of ways. The most typical method is to eat it like porridge. * To prepare salted porridge:- combine 1 tbsp sathu maavu, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1 cup room temperature water. Cook over medium heat until it thickens. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before adding 2-3 tablespoons buttermilk. Time to enjoy. * To make sweet porridge: first melt 1/2 cup of jaggery or palm sugar in 1/2 cup of water, strain, and set aside. To one cup of water or milk mix 1 tbsp sathu maavu. Cook over medium heat until it thickens. Once it starts thickening, add the prepared jaggery syrup and switch off.
